Wesley Community Centers of Savannah inaugurates new outdoor classroom

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – The new outdoor learning environment at Wesley Community Centers in Savannah is receiving rave reviews.

“Wow, that’s so cool! A student exclaimed as he entered.

A great success for the children who were able to explore this new space for the first time on Thursday.

While this is clearly a lot of fun, it is also a crucial part of their education.

“This allows us to improve the learning environment for our children,” said Executive Director of Wesley Community Centers of Savannah, Tammy AK Mixon-Calderon.

By providing them with a hands-on learning experience that takes them out of a typical classroom, regardless of the weather.

“It is sometimes difficult in the winter or during the rainy summers, but now they can go out anytime and we are grateful to them,” Mixon-Calderon said.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without “the Hundred Children Foundation really helped seal the deal for us,” says Mixon-Calderon.

Donate $ 15,000 to the project.

A project they just couldn’t say no to.

“When we saw the grant application from the Wesley Children’s Center, it was exactly aligned with our mission to serve children and improve our development,” said former One Hundred Children Foundation president Carri Stoltz.

After seeing the end results, it would seem like it was worth every penny.

“It does, it fills our hearts. It’s an exciting day, an exciting time, ”said Stoltz.
