Taguig sets up 19 multipurpose community centers

The City of Taguig has constructed 19 multi-purpose community centers to serve as the location for government services, common areas, sports and recreation activities, and the evacuation center.

The buildings, according to Mayor Lino Edgardo Cayetano, also house MRFs or material recovery facilities to keep the city’s environment and communities clean.

On April 13, the local government opened a three-storey multipurpose building in Rockyside, Bagumbayan, one of the community centers, which will make government services more accessible to the people.

This facility features a fully furnished common area and lounge for community groups, meetings, activities, events and other functions.

The area will also serve as a government satellite office, where city hall services such as burial issuance and financial aid can be handled.

“A child development center can also be found here, which can serve as a daycare center for young Taguigeños. Clean toilets for men, women and people with disabilities (persons with disabilities) are also available,” Cayetano said.

“In addition to these features, there is also a court for sports like basketball, volleyball, zumba and yoga for those looking to stay fit and healthy,” he said. he adds.

Police and village guards would be deployed in the area to maintain peace and order.

Mayor Cayetano said that Taguig is continually adapting to the new normal and with promising government officials poised to govern the city, residents can expect more infrastructure with similar features that will meet the needs of the community.

He said that by reaching the RoadToZero COVID-19 campaign, Taguig will continually expand its efforts to create infrastructure that will serve many purposes, including escape and emergency rooms.

“These infrastructure projects are proof that despite the pandemic, Taguig continues to record successes, which benefit our constituents in the short and long term,” he said.
