Taguig builds community centers for easier access to government services │ GMA News Online

One of 19 community centers has been opened in Taguig City despite the COVID-19 pandemic so that government services are easily accessible to the public.

The city government plans to have a total of 19 community centers that will serve the needs of the public. The first, the Rockyside Community Center, was located in Barangay Bagumbayan.

“These infrastructure projects are proof that despite the pandemic, Taguig continues to record successes, which benefit our constituents in the short and long term,” Mayor Lino Cayetano said in a press release.

The community center has a fully furnished common area and lounge for community groups, meetings, activities, events and other functions.

The facility will also serve as a government satellite office where City Hall services, including burial issuance and financial assistance, can be handled.

The city government has stated that a children’s development center is also located there, which can serve as a day care center for children. Clean toilets for men, women and people with disabilities are also available.

A field for sports activities is also located in the community center.

To provide security, police and barangay staff have set up a post in the area.

Cayetano said city residents could expect more infrastructure with similar features that will meet the needs of the community. —Anna Felicia Bajo/KBK, GMA News
