With more amenities than any other master-planned community in Southern Nevada, Summerlin offers an active, outdoor, and healthy lifestyle for all of its residents, regardless of where in the community they live or the size or the value of their home.
While the community’s 300+ parks and 200+ miles of trails are most often cited by residents as their favorite community amenities, Summerlin’s four private community centers, including three with Olympic-sized pools, offer also many opportunities for social interaction, active and fun play.
According to Jenni Pevoto, Director of Planned Community Marketing for Summerlin, community centers and swimming pools have long played a role in developing Summerlin’s strong social infrastructure as host sites for classes and programs for children, teens and adults; summer camps; seasonal celebrations; and as gathering and meeting places for residents of the community.
“Our first community center, The Trails, which opened in 1995, is still one of Summerlin’s busiest centers for learning and fun,” she said. “These community centers are also available for residents to rent for personal parties, weddings and other gatherings. It’s no wonder they’ve stood the test of time due to their ability to host a variety of activities, special events, and receptions.
In addition to The Trails Community Center and Pool, which is located in The Trails Village, other Summerlin residents-only community centers with pools include The Vistas and The Willows. A fourth community center in the gardens does not have its own swimming pool, but is surrounded by basketball courts and other outdoor amenities.
At the three community pools, lessons and opportunities to be part of the Summerlin Seals team are offered to resident children. All programs are offered by the Summerlin Council, the non-profit arm of the Summerlin Community Association dedicated to the social enrichment of community residents.
Summerlin is also home to two public community centers which were designed, built and funded by The Howard Hughes Corp., Summerlin’s lead developer, as part of its development agreement with local municipalities. These centers are operated by the City of Las Vegas and Clark County, respectively, and are open to everyone, regardless of Summerlin residency.
Located in the city of Las Vegas, the Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center and Pool features an Olympic-size swimming pool, fitness center, classrooms, and outdoor recreation areas. Located in Clark County, the Aquatic Springs Indoor Pool offers year-round water play and access via a 25-meter, 10-lap pool; a deep dive pool; and a therapy pool with disabled access. The facility features high overhead doors which, when opened, create a feeling of the outdoors.
“From cooking classes to dog obedience, music lessons, martial arts to arts and crafts, the range of classes and programs offered at Summerlin Community Centers are as varied as the residents they serve,” Pevoto said. “Today, they remain as vibrant and lively as ever with ever-changing program offerings.”
Now in its 32nd year of development, Summerlin’s amenities also include 10 golf courses; 26 public, private and charter schools; public library and performing arts center; Summerlin Hospital Medical Center; places of worship representing a dozen different denominations; office parks; and neighborhood shopping malls.
Downtown Summerlin features fashion boutiques, restaurants, entertainment, the Red Rock Resort and office towers. The City National Arena is home to the practice facility for the Vegas Golden Knights National Hockey League. The Las Vegas Ballpark is a world-class Triple-A baseball stadium and the home of the Las Vegas Aviators.
In total, Summerlin offers approximately 100 floor plans in 20 neighborhoods spread across nine distinct villages and districts.
