Defibrillators installed at key locations in Littlehampton

The machines were installed outside the Arun Civic Center in Maltravers Road and outside the Harbor Lights Cafe at the Look and Sea Center in Surrey Street.

The devices, which have the potential to save the life of someone in cardiac arrest, can be used by anyone at any time without the need for a passcode.

The defibrillator outside the Harbor Lights Cafe

Jacky Pendleton, Chair of the Housing and Welfare Services Committee, said: ‘Defibrillators save lives, so I am delighted they are available to the public in times of unfortunate need.

“These devices are safe and simple to use, so no one should worry about using one if they need to and knowing that using it could save someone’s life.”

Explicit instructions are given to guide the user through the process, making it easy to use without any training.

The council said it was important to have defibrillators in accessible places like these because every minute it takes for a defibrillator to reach someone and deliver a shock reduces the chances of survival.
